Biography

Grace was born in a little cabin in the forest in Nova Scotia, Canada.[3] She grew up traveling on buses because her parents were musicians and part of the peace and love movement.

As a child, she moved with her family to Kenya. When she was older, she lived in Senegal and Ethiopia. She calls herself a "nomad" because she traveled extensively in Africa, India, Europe and South America.

She currently resides in the South of France, Miami, and New York.

Hall of Mirrors

Her first major-label album, titled Hall of Mirrors, was released in October, 2008, by Mercury / Universal.

Recording Hall of Mirrors

Grace wanted to create a mostly acoustic album that "could be played anywhere" without needing "to be plugged in". She decided to record the album "out of the Parisian routine" so she took her band to Ngekhokh, Senegal, near Dakar, where the music was rehearsed with the band in a period of about two weeks. The whole team then went to Northern California to record the album in Prairie Sun Studio, Cotati, with the sound engineer Oz Fritz.
